This Castle has been rebuilt as it was in 1700 and some. It was one of the important places of the Ryukyu Kingdom (that's Okinawa and some surrounding Islands before they became Japanese), where foreign delegations would be brought to show them how vast a Kingdom this one was. It's actually one rare high point from where the sea/ocean cannot be seen.
It's quite interesting to visit this Castle after having seen some in Kyoto, as they are actually completely different. This one has closer to nothing Japanese. There's a lot of Chinese influence, as the Ryukyu Kingdom used to trade a lot with them and other surrounding countries.

Oh, and a few okinawan tombs, pretty specific to the island too.
